Nesta Italia launch event ‘Innovazione Senza Confini‘ took place in Turin at Juvarra Theatre on October 17th, 2017.
Geoff Mulgan (CEO Nesta), Francesco Profumo (President Compagnia di San Paolo) and Marco Zappalorto (Director Nesta Italia), presented the new foundation, a partnership between the global innovation foundation Nesta (based in the UK), and Compagnia di San Paolo, one of Italy’s largest and oldest philanthropic foundations.
The two organisations share the same vision to promote innovation and support initiatives that are needed to address Italy’s most pressing societal challenges. Nesta Italia focuses on four main areas: health and ageing; education; responses to migration; and the arts and cultural heritage.
During the event, Zoe Romano (Co-founder WeMake), Ali Ghorbangholi (Co-founder GoodSAM) and Aleksi Neuvonen (Founder Demos Helsinki) presented their projects, which all contribute in different ways to generate a positive impact through either technology or an innovative approach.
Barbara Carfagna, Journalist and TV presenter RAI, moderated the debate and presented the whole event.
The launch of Nesta Italia involved more than 200 people, including representatives of foundations, social organisations and academia, innovative startups and European, national and local policymakers. We received a lot of positive comments and the vibe around the event was very promising for building new collaborations and partnerships.
Interactions on social media were high and the press talked about us at local and national level.
